We have been working with our pigs since the end of February, getting them ready for the Millard County Stock show, Trey started out with a calf, but it was a little too wild for my "little" 3rd grader to work with, so we got two pigs instead, which worked out just perfect!!! Trey bought one with his very own money, Bold and I bought the other one.
The night before the stock show Trey wanted to get all dressed up in his stock show attire to make sure he looked presentable.
We weighed them in on Memorial day, we had a male and a female. The male weighed around 325 and the female 249. Trey started out Tuesday with the fitting and showing. He did an awesome job, he led it around the ring like a little champ, walking it in front of judge, he did great!!
Trey had a cane he would push it around with, they put the pigs in "classes" according to their weights so Trey was in the ring with all ages of kids, he showed both pigs on Wednesday.
The judge was telling Trey the proper way to push his pig around the ring.....
It looks a little chaotic, and it was, but I think this was a great experience for Trey. He looked so sharp in his black hat :) He took 4th place with the female pig ( the all pink one) and 5th place with the male ( the one with black on its back). He ended up selling the male pig on Thursday at the auction, because it was bigger, and he could make more money off of it. Bold did an awesome job getting it sold... Trey walked away selling it for $1108.00 :) Thanks to all those who put money down on Trey!!!!
He ended up with two blue ribbons and a trophy!!! He got the trophy for the best record book. (We turned in a portfolio at the first of the stock show with all the progress Trey has made since we got the pigs, and Trey wrote a really cute story about his pigs.) Of course I forgot to take my camera to the banquet so I didn't get a picture of Trey with his trophy :(
Good job Trey!!!!
